About Me: The Deion Sanders of Big Data
Hey y’all! I’m Shane Morris the founder of Internet Menace.
Who Am I?
- Data Developer & Engineer by Day: I spend my days (and too many nights) playing around with data. I move it, change it, stretch it, twist it, turn it, pull it, and bop it.
- Teacher by Night: My passion for data is only matched by my love for sharing knowledge. Hence, my free course where I give you a path to start out in big data and analytics.
Why Am I Giving Away Knowledge for Free?
- Knowledge is Power, but Sharing is Superpower: I believe knowledge shouldn’t be hoarded. It should flow freely, like poorly anonymized data on the internet.
- Been There, Learned That: When I was starting out, stuff like this didn’t exist. I had to learn it all the hard way. Now I’m just paying it forward, minus all the dead ends.
The Catch? There’s Always a Catch!
- Selling Some Swag: To keep the lights on and the servers running, I’ve got some cool items for sale. Think of it as supporting free education while getting something tangible in return.
- Aura is my sponsor. You’ll need a password manager if you decide upon pursuing this course, so now is a good time to sign up. You get 14 days for free.
- Slightly Self-Deprecating Merchandise: My merchandise is a reflection of my sense of humor. This should be fun, and not all… “corporate” feeling.
In a Nutshell
I’m just a regular dude tinkering with big data, trying to make the digital world a tad more understandable. I’m on a mission to democratize data knowledge, one free course at a time. If you want to support this noble cause by wearing some sick merch, that’d be appreciated.
I’m a dad of two kids, and a husband to one wonderful wife. I work a day job with a large federal IT consulting firm. Prior to federal IT consulting, I worked for some Fortune 500 companies as a contractor, and spent about a dozen years doing big data for record labels and music companies.
In my free time, I like messing around with old BMX bikes, and I’m an automotive enthusiast.
