You're not alone. The people doing this work are mostly happy to help the next person.
Where to find them:
The Internet Menace community (https://internetmenace.com) is the home base. Discussion, questions, "what would you do" threads.
GitHub. Star the repos of the tools you use. Read the issues. Open issues when something's wrong (especially with reproducible examples; maintainers love those). Submit pull requests when you can.
Hacker News, Lobsters, the relevant subreddits. These move fast. Don't read them all day. Skim once or twice a week to keep up with what's shipping.
CrewAI's Discord, Anthropic's developer forum, the Hugging Face community for self-hosted models. Specific tools have specific communities; join the ones for the tools you use.
Local meetups. Even in 2026, in-person meetups for "AI builders" or "vibe coders" or whatever the city's flavor is: they're the best place to find people working on similar problems. Search Meetup, Eventbrite, and your local chamber of commerce.
The rule of community: contribute before you ask. Answer one question for someone else before you ask one for yourself. The reciprocity norm is what keeps these communities working.
